Weymouth/Victoria House, Newcastle Business Park

Blake Hopkinson Architecture were commissioned to produce a new interior design concept for the refurbishment of the existing common areas for two identical commercial office buildings at Newcastle Business Park. The Brief included the main entrances and ground floor reception area which served individual offices on 2 floors accessed via the main staircase and lift. The toilets also required totally refurbishing using a common colour scheme for both male and female facilities.

The new materials and finishes where carefully selected to both enhance the spaces visually and ensure the interior was deliverable on budget. The signage was an integral part of the package providing a simple but effective rebranding of each building with clever use of lighting to complement the use of colour throughout the interior.

The end result is a cohesive design which delivers a new identity to the common areas of both buildings which encourages new and existing tenants to take ownership and be proud of the offices they work in.

Private Residence at Beechfield Road, Gosforth

Blake Hopkinson Arcahitecture were appointed to provide new ideas for the interior refurbishment of this 1900’s Art and Crafts style house in Gosforth, a desirable suburb and conservation area of Newcastle Upon Tyne. The brief included the remodelling of the ground floor and first floor to provide a new kitchen, family dining room and morning room, two completely refurbished bathrooms and a fresh look to the entrance hall, stairs and landing area.

The client wanted to make sure the interior design was in keeping with the style and character of the original house in the main entrance hall, stairs leading through to the other ground floor spaces, but encouraged BHA to produce a contemporary interpretation in the bathrooms.

The careful selection of materials and attention to detail played a major part in producing a design which was of a high enough quality to enhance the interior spaces of this wonderful period property.

David Barlow Homes. Newcastle Airport Industrial Estate

The project provides a new corporate branded head office for a private house builder company. Blake Hopkinson Architecture were appointed to provide architectural and interior design services to convert an existing factory unit on an industrial estate near Newcastle Airport into a new office with space to cope with the present and future expansion of the business.

The brief included the rationalisation and refurbishment of existing internal office accommodation, the provision of a new reception area with a large meeting room and additional cellular and open plan office space at ground and first floor levels. External alterations included a new entrance with a cantilevered glass canopy and curtain wall glazing, new and replacement windows elsewhere and new signage to reinforce the brand identity.

The interior design concept built on the semi industrial aesthetics of the original building with exposed steel beams, and concrete block walls with the addition of modern glazed partitions, smooth plastered walls and vibrant colours which complemented the already established brand identity.

Knowledge IT- Disaster Recovery Centre, New York Industrial Park

Blake Hopkinson Architecture developed a scheme as the design partner for a fit out contractor to provide a comprehensive interior design and technical support service, enabling them to provide a turn key solution for Knowledge IT who wanted to turn an empty industrial factory unit into a state-of-the- art data recovery centre which would be equipped to provide disaster recovery facilities for businesses affected by fire or flood.

The shell was divided into two main areas, the first being a dedicated office facility with reception and welfare facilities at ground floor level and open plan office space for up to 50 staff with a management suite at first floor level. The second being a large air conditioned server room with generator back up and additional Bridging room and conference room facilities.

The interior design concept was intentionally unbranded by Knowledge IT but instead allowed the potential use by other business to be accommodated in a high quality yet neutral environment.
